The Refugee In You & Me – Original Poem

“The refugee in you and me,
For we are all the same,
Should you choose to see.

“If our time too was to ever come,
For don’t be fooled that it could never be,
Would you stay or would you choose to flee?

“The mothers and fathers of daughters and sons,
For what we do for our children,
Doesn’t involve at the bare minimum the fright from baring guns.

“If all we knew was said and gone,
Where do we turn? We would we all belong?

“For there is a you and me, in every single refugee. They are more than a ‘refugee’, they are just like us – like you and like me.”
